BRIANNA MERCADO

Coming from the San Francisco Bay Area, Brianna Mercado received the majority of her training at A.K.A Dance Company under the direction of Kelly Velasquez. She holds a B.A. in Dance & Performance Studies and a B.A. in Social Welfare from the University of California Berkeley, and a certification in Mind-Body Medicine from Saybrook University. Brianna has been a New York-based performer, choreographer, and educator for the last 12 years, involved in commercial dance, film, and musical theatre while developing her own original work. Choreography credits include: Broadway: Floyd Collins: Lincoln Center (Associate of Dance Sequences); Off-Broadway/Regional: Public Theater: The Comedy of Errors (Associate Choreographer), The Untitled Unauthorized Hunter S. Thompson Musical: La Jolla Playhouse & Signature Theater (Associate Choreographer), Pirates of Penzance: Cape Rep Theatre (Choreographer), It Happened in Key West: The Fulton (Choreographer), West Side Story: Milwaukee Rep (Associate Choreographer), Azamara Cruise Line (Choreographer). Performance highlights: TEDx: Not Another Cancer Story, PHISH “Send in the Clones” (Madison Square Garden), The MUNY (Jesus Christ Superstar & Aida), United States Air Force Band, Traveler’s Insurance, Netflix: Making Malinche, and the film “Isn’t It Romantic.” She is a key leader of TheGrit Dance Collective and has served as faculty at Molloy University/CAP 21 Musical Theatre Conservatory, Peridance Center, and Broadway Dance Center.
